Ariane de Rothschild

Ariane de Rothschild is a French banker who has served as CEO of the Edmond de Rothschild Group since March 2023, the first woman and the first person without Rothschild lineage to run a Rothschild-branded financial institution. She was married to Benjamin de Rothschild from 1999 until his death in 2021.

A 2023 Wall Street Journal investigation (Khadeeja Safdar and David Benoit, April 30, 2023) reported that de Rothschild had “more than a dozen meetings” with Jeffrey Epstein, and that after initially denying the meetings the bank acknowledged she “met with Epstein as part of her normal duties at the bank between 2013 and 2019.” A Reuters report by Ariane Luthi and Tommy Reggiori Wilkes (February 5, 2026, published via Yahoo) stated that documents show de Rothschild “corresponded dozens of times” with Epstein and “agreed to multiple meetings over about five years before his 2019 arrest,” with exchanges arranging meetings at Epstein’s homes in New York and Paris. The released files separately record that, in a 2013 email chain, Epstein scheduled Israeli politician Ehud Barak to meet with Ariane de Rothschild.

In response, a bank spokesperson told Reuters that Epstein “was a business acquaintance of de Rothschild from 2013 to 2019,” that she “had no knowledge of Epstein’s conduct,” and that she “unequivocally condemns his behaviour and the crimes which he committed,” declining to comment on specific emails. A 2025 Wall Street Journal account additionally reported that de Rothschild negotiated a $25 million consulting contract with Epstein in 2015, and that the Paris office of the Edmond de Rothschild Group was among locations searched by French prosecutors in March 2026 in connection with an Epstein-related investigation (Associated Press, March 24, 2026).
