Kimbal Musk

Kimbal Musk is a businessman and restaurateur, founder of The Kitchen Restaurant Group, with locations in Colorado, Chicago and Austin, and co-founder and chairman of the nonprofit Big Green and the urban-farming company Square Roots. He is the younger brother of Elon Musk, with whom he co-founded Zip2 in 1995, and he serves on the boards of Tesla and SpaceX. He was named World Economic Forum Global Social Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018.

Musk appears in released Epstein documents through emails dated to the early 2010s. Reporting on the released files indicates he was referenced more than 140 times in emails between Epstein, his associates and his brother Elon, and that he began socializing with Epstein in 2012. Boulder Reporting Lab reports that more than 300 documents reference Musk across several years beginning in the early 2010s, including invitations to birthday parties and nonprofit fundraisers, a lunch at Epstein’s Manhattan home, and a January 2013 message in which Epstein wrote, “You are invited to the island for a couple of days, come relax”; the outlet notes the documents do not establish that Musk traveled to Epstein’s private island. According to Boulder Reporting Lab and Fortune, the emails also describe an on-and-off relationship beginning in 2012 with a woman in Epstein’s social circle, an introduction in which Epstein’s associate Boris Nikolic — a former Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation science adviser — played a role and told Musk to “be nice” to the woman because Epstein “goes crazy when someone mistreats his girls/friends.” Fortune reports that Epstein, in a June 2013 email, wrote, “I gave another girl to kimball and he is thrilled.”

Musk has responded publicly. MS NOW reports that he wrote on X on February 9, 2026 that “Epstein did not introduce us. My only meeting with that demon was in his New York office during the day,” and said the volume of emails was because Epstein “was subscribed to a newsletter I sent out to thousands of people every few weeks.” Fortune similarly reports that Musk said he met the woman “through a friend” and that “Epstein did not introduce us,” while also quoting an email in which he thanked Epstein and Nikolic for connecting him, writing, “I believe you both played a role.” According to reporting on the released files, Musk resigned from the Burning Man Project board following criticism over his Epstein ties.
