Todd Boehly is an American investor and businessman. He is the co-founder, chairman and chief executive of the holding company Eldridge Industries, co-controlling owner and chairman of the Premier League football club Chelsea F.C., and a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers. Before founding Eldridge in 2015, he worked at Guggenheim Partners, where he became president in 2011.
According to reporting on the released files, emails from 2011 showed that Jeffrey Epstein arranged two meetings involving Boehly — then a managing partner at Guggenheim — the second of which was a conference call held in part to discuss Peter Mandelson. The files showed Epstein asked Mandelson to help with Boehly’s bid to buy the Silverstone racetrack. Front Office Sports reported that Boehly was “part of the consortium alongside Epstein” in a 2011 attempt to take over Silverstone, an effort the group ultimately failed to complete.
The Journal reported that the 2011 correspondence connected Boehly to a proposed financial deal involving Allied Irish Banks (AIB), describing emails in which an associate, David Mitchell, instructed Epstein to “call Boehly” and that on September 7, 2011, Mitchell emailed Boehly to arrange a meeting with Mandelson; the outlet noted that mid-September emails showed assistants from Epstein’s and Boehly’s offices coordinating meeting times, though it did not confirm a meeting took place. The Journal stated that “Peter Mandelson, Todd Boehly, Guggenheim Partners and David Mitchell have been contacted for comment.” Neither that report nor the Front Office Sports article included any statement or response from Boehly or his representatives.
