U.K. Minister Won't Rule Out Judge-Led Inquiry Into Andrew's Epstein Ties

Police continued searching Prince Andrew’s former residence at Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate Sunday, while a U.K. government minister said a judge-led inquiry into Andrew’s ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has not been ruled out, according to The Guardian.¹

Bridget Phillipson, the education secretary, said the government would not rule out such an inquiry but characterized the discussion as premature while police continue their investigation, The Guardian reported.¹ Phillipson was representing the government when she made the statement.¹

The searches at Royal Lodge continued Sunday at Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s former home on the Windsor estate, according to The Guardian.¹

Calls for Removal From Succession

Calls have mounted for Mountbatten-Windsor to be removed from the royal line of succession, The Guardian reported.¹

The U.K. government was previously reported to be considering legislation to remove Andrew from the line of succession following his arrest.¹

Police widened their investigation into Andrew after his arrest in connection with the Epstein case.¹
