The House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack has issued subpoenas to Bill Gates and Kathryn Ruemmler, a former White House counsel who later worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as part of its investigation into documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, according to The American Bazaar.1

The subpoenas were issued by the House panel on March 4, 2026, The Daily Beast reported.2 Gates now faces a Capitol Hill appearance to answer questions about his connections to Epstein.2

Ruemmler served as White House Counsel under President Barack Obama from 2011 to 2014.1 She later joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in a senior legal role.1

Gates’s Documented Epstein Meetings

Gates has previously acknowledged meeting with Epstein multiple times. In a 2019 statement to The Wall Street Journal, Gates said the meetings were focused on philanthropy and that he regretted them. Gates and Epstein met on “numerous occasions” beginning in 2011, according to previous reporting cited by the Journal.

The subpoenas represent Congress’s ongoing effort to obtain testimony from individuals who had documented contact with Epstein in the years following his 2008 conviction on state charges of soliciting a minor in Florida.

Congressional Investigation Expands

The House committee’s investigation has expanded to include multiple high-profile figures with documented ties to Epstein. The committee has previously subpoenaed former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for testimony related to the Epstein probe.

The investigation follows passage of the Epstein Transparency Act, which mandated the release of government records related to Epstein and his associates. The law required federal agencies to review and declassify documents within specified timeframes.
